One and Zero 02:55
You're chasing around Like your headless again It’s like you forgot The evolution The fins have fallen off, and out grow the feet Oh freedom, is wasted on the free Now somebody calls you by your other name And if you could fold back time You wouldn’t do it the same I swear, something is keeping you alive Just to prove the design For the next in line Tell me, how do you sleep Knowing you’re the one
2.
Nama Wind 03:43
Nama got a wind a blowing up inside my mind Ever since I was a boy she called me from the sign Through all the dust and water trouble I cannot say She was there in the night and in the shadow of the day Bringing in Nama wind Superstition, overpriced real estate of soul Intuition, don’t think twice just dance over the fall Nama got a wind a blowing everywhere I be In the darkest cave, in silence or in city A foreign tongue hiding in the melody The blade on the shoulder cutting through the deep Bringing in Nama wind Superstition, over priced Broken symbol sound I’d imagine Jesus Christ would burn this to the ground Nama got a wind a blowing up inside my room through the cracks in the walls she called me from the tomb With all the dust and water churning in the bay She was there in the night and in the shadow of the day Bringing in Nama wind
3.
Slow Fade 02:42
Wanna know why I stay awake Wanna know why I keep it running Wanna know why I keep away From the machina humming You know what takes a bigger man than I And breaks him down to nothing It’s the leak in the ceiling The pebble in the shoe The never ending one and zero The slightest turn The lightest burn It’s the low grade It’s the slow fade Wanna know how I made it here Wanna know why I haven’t jumped yet I stay away from the casino I never place a bet It’s the leak in the ceiling The pebble in the shoe All the in between, in between me and you It’s the goal-less game The meaningless name The darkness behind the bright lights The slightest turn The lightest burn It’s the low grade It’s the slow fade
4.
Stop Running 03:31
She’ll meet you in the morning When the sun is twenty three degrees below the horizon You don’t have to compromise What’s done is done You feel the atmosphere Feel the gravity in everything you hold dear Floating above you But you don’t have to fear it coming true Cause it already has Gonna come for you, come for you Stop running, stop running You are standing in the place you were You are standing in the place you were Stop running From the demons that were never there They were never there You don’t have to fight it You don’t have to make sense of being here Just listen All the silent years could make up a lifetime I think it’s about time Stop running You are standing in the place you were And you’re still not sure Stop running From the demons that were never there They were never there, never there
5.
Pull Away 05:08
Pull away, pull away That’s an order We came too late And all that we can do is turn Watch it from above as it burns Pull away That’s the word Let the fire do it’s work Pull away Pull away It’s your turn Every man before you had to learn This was never yours to take Go down with flames or pull away pull your plane away
6.
So long, a thousand years Could not keep me here So long, to be alone Wrapped in earth like precious stone So long, the treasure that pulls me Hidden in frequency All are blind to see Oh my dear Carry me out, carry me out to sea With a trillion tiny waves Pass through me Pushing 39 All of the distant lights are mine They hold no record of wrong So why should I All of the pages I’ve written on Can drift on down to bottom And a trillion tiny waves A trillion tiny waves Will carry me on Into your arms
7.
Wish there was a line that I could cross At the edge of the garden and into the tall grass There I would make myself known Write on every leaf, turn over every stone Oh my, oh my, it’s getting dark But I don’t wanna turn back now I’m almost there Almost there All of my fears have followed me But they mean me no harm They just wanna see Is this a cry for attention Well of course it is Tell me one thing that isn’t Oh my, oh my, it’s turning black And all my friends have turned back But I hear the glistening bay Through those pines And I’m almost there Oh my, oh my, it’s getting dark But I don’t wanna turn back now I’m almost there It’s like I’m there

about

Former Civil Twilight frontman, Steven Dayvid McKellar returns with NAMA, the follow up to his 2020 debut solo album ETHIO. Deftly self-produced, the record is a musical psychoanalysis of McKellar’s own id, where the primitive utterances of the subconscious are quite literally coaxed and arranged into fully realized expressions of song.

Throughout the album, from the minimal electronic heartbreak of lead off track “One & Zero” to the haunted claustrophobia of second single “Stop Running” and the fractured beauty of album closer “Edge Of The Garden", NAMA somehow balances introspection with an outward push into the unknown...
